Support the Creation of an Early Career Researcher Section of ASPB

It is proposed that ASPB establish a new section that is organized around Early Career Researchers (students, post-docs, scientists in transition, and generally anyone who self-identifies as an Early Career Researcher). The creation of this section will benefit ECRs currently within the society by establishing a formal means of communication among the ECR leadership, as well as with the ECR membership; generating an ECR platform based on this communication; and, finally, increasing the voice and representation of ECRs within the ASPB governance. As a first step toward ensuring the success of this initiative, 3% of the current ASPB membership is required to support this petition to launch the new section, whether or not they intend to join the section should it be formed.

The proposal’s authors hope that there is broad support for this initiative across the ASPB membership. You may express your support by signing the petition. If we garner broad member support and receive the go-ahead from the ASPB governance, then those scientists interested in an ECR section will have the opportunity to join the new section as a member.
