A New Year’s gift to our authors and readers: The Plant Cell is now posting articles immediately after final acceptance by the Science Editor. This will speed the overall publication process by 2–3 weeks, so our authors will no longer have to wait for typesetting to share their exciting results with the world.
Of course, this rapid publication should not affect the quality of Plant Cell papers – we want your final article to be as polished as possible. Our science editors will work with authors to ensure good presentation of the advance publication articles in pdf format. Authors may follow guidelines provided for formatting figures in order to produce pdf files with figures and their legends inline (embedded in the text near the first call-out), or they may choose to present figures at the end of the pdf file, depending on what works best for the file types submitted. And authors will still have the opportunity to make corrections to their final proofs (the copy-edited and type-set version will be available about 2 weeks later).
