100 Years of Discovery: Plant Physiology Video Competition

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Plant Physiology, we invite members of the plant science community to share how publishing in, reviewing for, or reading the journal has shaped their scientific journey.

Selected videos will be:

  • Featured across ASPB social media channels
  • Played in the Plant Physiology Centennial Booth at Plant Biology 2026, taking place July 18-22, 2026 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
  • Archived as part of the journal’s centennial celebration

One video will be selected the best of the competition, and its creator will win $500, courtesy of a generous gift of Plant Physiology’s Editors.

Competition Requirements

1. Eligibility

  • Open to researchers, educators, trainees, authors, reviewers, and readers of Plant Physiology
  • Individuals or small teams may submit (one submission per person/team)

2. Video Specifications

  • Maximum length: 90 seconds
  • Format: MP4 or MOV
  • Orientation: Landscape preferred (1080p recommended)
  • Clear audio (external mic encouraged)
  • English language (subtitles encouraged for accessibility)

3. Content Guidelines

Participants should address:

  • How Plant Physiology impacted their career or scientific development
  • A memorable publication, review experience, or milestone
  • The journal’s role in advancing plant science

Tone may be:

  • Reflective
  • Inspirational
  • Personal
  • Forward-looking

4. Branding & Rights

  • Avoid copyrighted music or images without permission
  • Include caption: “Celebrating 100 Years of Plant Physiology
  • Your submission grants ASPB permission to share the video across platforms and at live events

5. Submission Process

  1. Upload via official competition form
  2. Include:
    • Full name(s)
    • Institutional affiliation
    • Email contact
    • Short 1–2 sentence summary of the video
  3. Deadline: 11:59 pm Eastern Time, May 1, 2026

Evaluation Criteria

Participants will be evaluated using the following rubric:

The judging panel may include:

  • Editorial Board representatives
