Collaborating for Creating Connections – Biology in Action!

ASPB actively seeks and sustains collaborative connections which support evidence-based plant science instruction and discipline-based education research. To that end, ASPB is pleased to serve as a Conference Collaborator (http://www.esa.org/ldc/about/) for Creating Connections – Biology in Action!

As Conference Collaborator we promote the event and disseminate its outcomes in tandem with our affiliates in the Professional Societies Alliance for Life Science Education (PSALSE). Our PSALSE activities also have supported the development of goals germane to Creating Connections – Biology in Action!

The conference is slated for March 18-19, 2016, in Linthicum, MD (near Baltimore). Creating Connections sessions will follow these thematic tracks:

  • Connect learning to life science careers in research and practice: What is it like to be a Biologist?
  • Connect learning to current events: What is the relevance of Biology?
  • Connect learning across institutions and settings: How do we build bridges across education settings?

Who should attend? High school through college instructors, informal science educators, curriculum developers, researchers, technology and data experts, department leaders, and local and national leaders are all vital stakeholders to science education. We especially encourage teams from institutions and collaborators to participate in exploring the program’s many effective teaching and learning strategies. Register at www.esa.org/ldc.

What is the format? There will be hands-on workshops, short presentations and specific discussions at the signature Education Share Fair roundtables. The Education Share Fair roundtables showcase those who are testing an idea and would like feedback.
