Plant Physiology webinar: About the AFE program

Thursday, August 22, 2024

The Plant Physiology Assistant Features Editor (AFE) program is more than six years old, and in that time more than 120 early career plant scientists have participated. It is a two-year, mentored program in which the AFEs write News and Views articles about papers being published in Plant Physiology. AFEs are part of the Plant Physiology editorial board, and as such get insights into policies and procedures that influence journals published by a professional society. Furthermore, the AFEs get formative feedback on their writing, which is considered one of the most beneficial aspects of the program.

This year, we invite postdocs and late-stage PhD students to apply for two cohorts of the AFE program, to start their two-year term in January 2025 or January 2026. We encourage submissions from people whose work spans the breadth of research published in Plant Physiology. The application deadline is October 15, 2024.

Would you like to know more about the Plant Physiology Assistant Features Editor Program? This is a competitive program, and we would love to answer your questions about what it entails and what a successful application includes.

Join Editor-in-Chief Yunde Zhao and Features Editor Mary Williams, along with current AFEs, in this webinar to learn what this program offers you. There will be plenty of time to ask questions as you prepare your application (due October 15, see https://blog.aspb.org/plant-physiology-is-recruiting-assistant-features-editors-to-start-in-2025-and-2026/).
