ASPB Journals Move to Continuous Publication

Readers and authors will notice a significant change starting with the January issues of both Plant Physiology and The Plant Cell. Both journals have moved to a continuous publication model, which will allow accepted articles to be indexed in an issue faster than ever before.

Benefits of Continuous Publication

Continuous publication differs from the previous publication model in that corrected proofs are indexed in an issue as soon as they are posted, as opposed to waiting to be indexed until the issue is completed. Each issue will open at the beginning of each month; articles are continuously added to an issue until the issue closes at the end of the month.

As always, accepted papers will first appear as “Advance Articles” shortly after final acceptance, before the corrected proof is ready to be indexed.

The benefit of continuous publication to authors and readers is that each article will receive its final issue number and page numbers as soon as the corrected proof appears online, streamlining the process by which articles are published, read, and cited. This also allows corrected proofs to be made available even sooner.

Other features of both journals, such as monthly covers and Focus Issues, will continue under continuous publication. Articles that are tagged as part of a Focus Issue topic will be more easily identifiable, and collections of Focus content will be more accessible and frequently updated.
