Message for Members from Alliance President

Dear Alliance members,

The Alliance has laid out a strategic plan that is elevating our profession within the health care community -- locally, nationally, and internationally.  There is a growing appreciation of how our work impacts health, as well as health care. This awareness helps all of us as members of the Alliance.

        Three extremely important parts of this effort are:  
                1) deploying our Alliance competencies in education, 
                2) developing and better using research in our work, and 
                3) advocating public policies that remove barriers and promotes national accomplishment in 
                    continuing education in the health professions (CEHP).

In an effort to facilitate these efforts and other components of the strategic plan, the Alliance Board of Directors plans to establish the Foundation for CEHP, a 501(c)(3) organization, to help facilitate our  grant-seeking efforts and the Coalition for CEHP, a 501(c)(6) organization to elevate our advocacy efforts in the United States. 

In setting up the Foundation and Coalition, we need to make minor changes to the Alliance Bylaws.  You can find these changes here.  Next month you will receive an electronic ballot affording you the opportunity to vote for or against these changes.

Assuming the majority supports these changes, you will see and hear more about the Foundation for CEHP and the Coalition for CEHP at our annual conference in San Francisco.  We will highlight how these changes will move the strategic plan of the Alliance forward.  Our branding for this next stage in fulfillment of our strategic plan will be: “Educate, Innovate, Advocate.”

        Educate. 
        The Alliance for CEHP is an individual professional membership organization that accelerates 
        excellence in health care performance through education, advocacy, and collaboration. 

        Innovate. 
        The Foundation for CEHP is the Alliance’s education and research foundation that fosters 
        broad-based development, funding, and collaboration for clinical and educational research 
        and innovation that improves health care outcomes through practitioner education.  

        Advocate. 
        The Coalition for CEHP is the Alliance’s individual and institutional membership organization 
        that advocates for policies and actions that support CE in the health care professions 
        and promote the interests of continuing education professionals.
